The fame that came with different kind of shades
R&B: It began as an abbreviation for Rhythm & Blues. The genre mainly includes African American music from the late 1940s, but it’s formed into the Contemporary R&B in the 1980s, which we think about as R&B. International popularity of the main genre has led to form British Rhythm & Blues and Latin Soul.
Whitney Houston, “the Voice”, this is how she is remembered for. She began singing as a child in church. She signed with Arista Records, whose president was Clive Davis. Her extraordinary vocal ability and her rare emotive power became the standard of her carrier. The person who was set up with the Whitney Houston image during the release of her debut album, eventually made her personal life harder to live up to and led to the drop down of her later carrier. “It was just too much,” Houston revealed to Oprah Winfrey in 2009 about her reclusion, “Too much to try to live up to, to try to be, you know? And I wanted out at some point.” Overall, her spectacular vocal ability built up an unrealistic image about her whole life, that could not be lived on the long run by anyone.
From her debut album, Whitney Houston (1985), more songs made it to the Billboard Hot 100 charts such as “Greatest Love of All”, “How Will I Know” and “Saving All My Love for You” which also made Houston got her first Grammy Award in the best female pop vocal performance category. “You Give Good Love” introduced Houston’s natural ability to stretch notes beyond their perceived limits. This made her to be recognised as someone who would be forever capable of a glass-like vocal delivery.
